Hischance wins at Ballarat.
By · CommentsHischance at only his second start since fracturing his sesamoid in November 2010, won at Ballarat on 10th May. He has always shown us a lot of ability but has struggled to stay sound. He had only 3 starts when we first got to Australia in 2009 before having 6 months out because we could not keep him sound. He then came back and ran 2nd first up at Geelong in September ’10 before winning a month later at Benalla. It was his next start at Cranbourne when he sustained his sesamoid injury. After x-rays, the prognosis was very poor, we were told his chance of getting back to the races was less than 10% and not much better to be a riding horse. Devastated with this outcome and having to make a decision about his future he stayed about the stable here heavily bandaged until he was sound enough to put out in a paddock. He then went out to a lovely big paddock where he spent the next year and became sounder than we thought possible. After further x-rays and seeing how sound he was we decided to bring him back into work and see how he coped. He has stayed sound with very careful training where he never goes quicker than a canter on the track and does all his hard work in the water at the beach, he has managed to not only make it back to the races but has won in only his second start back!! Fingers crossed he will stay sound and gain more success at the races yet.
How Fairdinkum At Cranbourne Tonight
By · CommentsHow Fairdinkum will run in Race 6 at 9.15pm tonight at Cranbourne. He has drawn a nice barrier and has Brent Evans to ride who is in fine form with a great strike rate.
Below is a How Fairdinkum being led off St Sambrose at Safety Beach this morning in prepartion for his race tonight.
This gorgeous filly has been fully educated and is in full work. She will be stepping out to the jumpouts towards the end of April and then all going well on to the races.

Star Bint Wins
By · CommentsStar Bint finally repaid her very patient owners with a nice win at Ballarat yesterday. She was ridden very positively by Brent Evans and scraped home by a short margin after leading. It was very rewarding to get a win from her after a string of placings this prep.
Mercury Seven and Danyme Both Win!
By · CommentsWhat a great weekend we had with Mercury Seven winning at Bairnsdale on Saturday and Danyme continuing the run with a smart win at Kilmore on Sunday.
Mercury Seven was ridden very well by Brent Evans from the inside barrier draw to get the run of the race, he challenged in the straight and it looked like the leader wasn’t going to let him past, but Mercury Seven, aka Astro, stuck his head out right on the line and just got up to win by a nose, much to the delight of proud owners Pam & Peter Elkington and Emily Presley!
Danyme was ridden by Ben Melham who positioned her nicely about midfield before bringing her out the challenge just before they straighned up, she powered home to get up and win by a neck beating a nice field. It was great to have all her owners on course to see her win.
A Quiet Start To 2012 for Hutchinson Racing
By · CommentsWe’ve had a quiet start to 2012 with Pink Ice running at Mornington on the 1st and was never put into the race. She will bounce back soon. Mercury Seven went a really good race at Bairnsdale on the 2nd just getting beaten by a neck after a lovely ride from very soon to be Dad, Jarrod Todd.
The star of the stable this week, even though he’s a long way off being back to the races, is our little Movie Star, How Fairdinkum. Have a look at these links to see him in action. How Fairdinkum How Fairdinkum again and here enjoying a cool shower on a very hot day.
MERRY XMAS!!
By · CommentsHUTCHINSON RACING Would like to wish you all a very Merry Xmas and the best of luck for 2012.
We should have a few runners at Mornington on New Years Day and it would be great to see some of you there if you can make it.
HISTORY NO HURDLE WINS AT BALLARAT
By · Comments It doesn’t look like it in the photo, but here you will see History No Hurdle second from the left kicking back after being headed and getting up to win by a short margin at Ballarat on Sunday.
There was very little pace in the race and after initially attempting to settle just in behind the leaders it soon became apparent that no one was going to set a decent gallop, Craig Newitt took the initiative to move around the field once they had straightened up down the back and let Randy stroll to the lead where he relaxed and raced much kinder. He quickly put a couple of lengths on the field when Craig asked him to quicken at about the 600m mark, then got a bit lost in the straight and wobbled around till two went past him, then he kicked back and got up by a nose! Very exciting day for us and all going well, a lot more to come in the future.
A Busy Few Days For Hutchinson Racing
By · CommentsIn the next 3 days we will have 5 runners. Say The Word will have her first start for us when she steps out in the Maiden 1300m at Cranbourne today. This should be too short for her but will be a nice race to start her off in. She has performed nicely at the trials and will be ridden by Lisa Cropp. Then we have Danyme stepping up in class in a Showcase Rating 72 1600m also at Cranbourne. She will be ridden for the first time by Craig Newitt and has drawn 4 out of a field of 6.
At Mornington on Saturday we have Mercury Seven lining up in a rating 58, at his favourite distance, 1500m and has drawn barrier 1. Then Pink Ice stepping out for her first run this prep over 1220m drawn 3. Both horses to be ridden by Luke Currie
Sunday at Ballarat Cup Day, History No Hurdle will run in a Rating 72 over 2200m. This is a smart field, his first time over the distance and his biggest test to date. He will be ridden by Craig Newitt.
